Reykjavik is such a beautiful city. It is surrounded by extremes - the ocean, ice capped mountains and lava fields! It is very clean and neat and all the houses are so colourful.
I recoment suggest two great vantage points to get a fabulous view over town. The first, and most central, is from the top of the steeple of the Hallgrimskirkja Church (at a cost of around 300 kroner for the elevator). Here you get a close up view of the city centre and the harbour.
The second vantage point is from the restaurant and bar on top of the Perlan, which is located on a hill just out of the centre of Reykjavik. Here you can go to the top of the building for a drink or a meal in the revolving restaurant, and see all of the city laid out in front of you. From here you can also enjoyed watching small aircraft taking off and landing at the Domestic Airport, which is located in the close to the centre of town
